The Labour Party announced that the election for a new deputy leader for Parliamentary Affairs will be held in the middle of next month during an extraordinary general conference.
The elected deputy leader in the post will also serve as deputy Prime Minister. The post was vacated by the former deputy Prime Minister Louis Grech.
The Labour Party said in a statement that nominations for the post will be received next week with voting held on Friday, the 14th of July.
In case there will be more than two candidates contesting for Deputy Leader for Parliamentary Affairs and none of the candidates wins 50%+1 of the valid votes cast, another round of voting will be made on Saturday, 15th July between the two candidates who win the highest number of votes.
