Planned to start a fire in New York cathedral

A 37-year-old man was stopped from setting fire to St Patrick’s Cathedral in New York.

It seems that the man, who suffers from psychological problems, was seen approaching the cathedral and carrying two cans of fuel.

Luckily the man, Marc Lamparello, was stopped in time by security officers, and his plan to see the cathedral in flames just like Notre Dame failed to materialise.

Lamparello was also found to be carrying matches and other items which he was going to use to start a fire in the cathedral.

Interrogated by the Police, Lamparello stated that he was carrying cans of fuel as his car had stopped and he had gone to fetch some petrol. The man was found to be lying, however, as Police investigations showed his car was not short of fuel.
