Plays the violin during her operation
Can you imagine yourself remaining conscious during an operation?
And playing a musical instrument into the bargain?!
This is exactly what Dagmar Turner did when she was undergoing a brain operation.
Medical staff asked 53-year-old Turner to continue playing the violin during the operation, to make sure she did not lose her musical skills while they removed a tumour from her brain.
The tumour was close to a critical part of her brain and could have badly impacted her.
The operating surgeon stated he had carried out numerous operations, but this was the first time his patient played a musical instrument during the actual intervention. The medical team managed to remove 90% of the tumour without any damage to the patient’s memory.
Turner is now looking forward to rejoining the orchestra.
