PM attends EU leaders meeting on EP elections results

28 European Union leaders, including Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, will today meet in Brussels for an informal meeting to discuss the European Parliament elections results and start the process for the nomination of leaders of the European high institutions, including the European Council, the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs.

The Brussels meeting will also be attended by European Council President, Donald Tusk, the European Commission President, Jean Claude Juncker and the EU’s Council secretary general, Jeppe Transholm-Mikkelsen.

Council President Tusk had said during another informal meeting in Romania earlier this month that the European Council should nominate the persons to lead the European institutions next June.
