PM calls a meeting of MCESD – reiterates that Covid-19 situation in under control

Prime Minister Robert Abela has called a meeting of the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development, scheduled for next Thursday, to discuss Malta’s position in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said that the decision was taken following a Cabinet meeting this morning, and after Dr Abela listened to the wish of the social partners for more information on the current situation and the way forward.

It was pointed out that therefore, while the Government through deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne is committed to resume talks with the Medical Association of Malta and other unions, the Prime Minister will be providing this factual updating to MCESD.

The Government reiterated that the situation in the country is under control and assured that it will continue to take the necessary decisions to safeguard the health of people and their livelihood with the strengthening of the economy that provides for the quality of life of Maltese and Gozitan families.
