PM: EU’s strength lies in unity between member states

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat stated that the strength of the European Union lies in unity between member states, and not in one state on its own. Addressing a conference with the theme The Role of the Maltese Presidency in the Future of the European Union, organised by Euro Parliamentarian Miriam Dalli, Dr Muscat said the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union is happening at a turbulent time during which significant results have been achieved, including benefits to consumers from cheaper roaming tariffs, following an agreement between the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the EU and the European Parliament. Dr Muscat said factors like security would always remain at the forefront of the security agenda, with one of the biggest challenges being the fight against populism.

Euro Parliamentarian Miriam Dalli stated that together we can give a better direction to the European Union by once again making it part of the people, becoming more relevant, and ensuring the best decisions are taken for the benefit of European citizens, with a better policy from which the lives of European citizens will benefit.
