PN says it agrees with suspension of demolition and excavation permits

The Nationalist Party expressed agreement, in a statement, with the decision for demolition and excavation permits to be suspended temporarily until the introduction of new regulations and procedures to regulate this industry in a serious, coordinated and holistic manner.

The Nationalist Party added that Government has to assume its responsibility and ensure that besides continuous and adequate training for all those involved in this sector, persons providing services in the building industry should be licenced and certified, and enforcement should be increased.

The Opposition declared it was prepared to work with Government so that together with the involved stakeholders a framework would be drawn up to regulate the construction industry, and for the Building and Construction Authority to be set up and to start functioning properly.
