Police carry out 80 inspections in several establishments

Between 1 January 2020 and yesterday night, the police conducted 80 inspections in several establishments around Malta and Gozo.

A total of 100 people were caught smoking in establishments. About 50 other people were charged after they were caught drinking from glass receptacles in the street. A number of other citations were issued in respect of establishment owners who were caught playing music at a high volume after the time established in the permit.

Other citations were issued in respect of people caught littering (litter Act), and another 70 citations were issued in respect of traffic offenses.
The police inspections took place in several locations, including Birgu, Birzebbuga, Cospicua, Hamrun, Luqa, Senglea, Kalkara, Marsa, Qormi , Rabat, St Julians and Paceville, Sliema, Valletta, Zabbar and Zebbug. Inspections were also carried out in Ghajnsielem and in Victoria, Gozo.
