UPDATE: Police officer injured in Luqa hit and run

A traffic police constable was injured this morning when he was run over with his bike in Luqa by a car driven by a youth who then drove on. The accident occurred at around 7.45 am near the Lidl complex.

TVM is informed that the traffic constable had stopped a Mercedes car whose driver, for some reason, overran him and continued driving.

An ambulance arrived on site to assist the police officer, and later on the Police said he suffered grievous injuries.

Later on the involved car was found abandoned after being involved in a crash. The driver, who left the area on foot, was said to have been caught by the Police near Ta’ Kandja.
