Pope Francis and Pope Benedict receive Covid-19 vaccination

The vaccination campaign against Covid-19 at the Vatican began yesterday, and today Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI have been vaccinated.

Matteo Bruni, the director of the Vatican Press Room, confirmed that they had taken the first dose of the vaccine. Pope Francis had announced himself that he would take the vaccine in a televised interview last Sunday.

Pope Francis has called the vaccination against Covid-19 an ethical step, because if a person does not take it he is playing with his own life and the lives of others.

Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI are considered vulnerable because of their age. Pope Francis is 84 years old while Pope Emeritus is 93.
