Post-secondary and tertiary level students increased by 3.1%

During the 2019-20 scholastic year, the number of students who continued studying in post-secondary level and in tertiary institutions was 26,673, an increase of 3.1% over the previous year.

NSO statistics show that there were 9,620 students in Sixth Forms and other post-secondary institutions – 1.8% less than the previous year. 995 of the students were foreigners.

The majority of students, 83.7%, attended government schools, with 50.4% followed vocational studies.

There were 17,053 students in the tertiary level, an increase of 6.1% over the previous year. 57% of the students were women while 66% or 11,255 followed full-time courses.

NSO figures also showed that during the 2019-20 academic year, there were 2,498 foreign students in the tertiary level, equivalent to 14.6% of all students – an increase of 2.3% over the previous year.
