Power of fire celebrated at Ħuġġieġa concert

The innovative concert Ħuġġieġa which will see the participation of the 12th May Band was announced at a news conference, and will take place with the support of the Maltese Council for the Arts.

The May 12th hand of Ħaż=Zebbug is currently preparing for Ħuġġieġa, a concert to be held on Saturday 16 November at Sir Temi Zammit Hall at the University of Malta.

Maestro Hermann Farrugia Frantz explained that Ħuġġieġa will see various forms of art celebrating the power of fire, and the hold it has had on man from ancient to modern times.

Composers Alex Vella Gregory, Véronique Vella, Albert Garzia and Euchar Gravina have embarked on an artistic journey to compose contemporary music for the 12th May Symphony Band.

At its core, the music is inspired by verses with a fire theme written by Sebastian Saliba, as well as the personal and artistic experiences of these composers.

The Minister for Justice, Culture and Local Government Owen Bonnici spoke about the importance of supporting these events put up by artistic and cultural organizations, because this way art was brought closer to people.
