President George Vella to be hospitalised for surgical intervention

President George Vella is to be admitted to Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, to undergo a minor surgical intervention.

It has been announced in a statement by the President’s Office that the intervention had been planned ahead, and has to be carried out under a general anaesthetic.

It has also been stated that the President will not be able to carry out his duties between 14 and 15 February.

On these two days, Mrs Dolores Cristina will be assuming duties as Acting President of the Republic.
