Queen Elizabeth II’s husband, Prince Philip, underwent heart surgery at a top hospital in London.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace said the 99-year-old Prince had a successful operation for a pre-existing heart condition at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
The statement went on to say that Prince Philip will continue to be treated in hospital for several days.
He has been in hospital for more than two weeks, the longest time he has ever spent inside a hospital during his lifetime.
Prince Philip is expected to turn 100 on June 10.
Queen Elizabeth II, now 94, continued her royal engagements despite her husband’s situation.
The couple have been married for the past 73 years.
