The death was announced this morning of Professor Anglu Psaila at the age of 81. Prof Psaila was a pediatrician and a clinical cardiologist.
His role in medicine also extended to educational talks on the media, as he presented and participated in various health-related programmes on radio and TV.
In 2013 he was presented with the Ġieħ ir-Repubblika for his contribution to the field of medicine.
Prof Psaila was also known for the contribution he gave to local politics, as he ran as a candidate on the Labour Party ticket over a number of years.
In a Tweet, the Deputy PM and Health Minister Chris Fearne said that entire generations of patients and medical students are grateful to Prof Psaila.
