Qala Council in legal battle against development partially located in ODZ area

The Qala Local Council has filed two applications asking for the revocation of permits for the construction of private garages and apartments, on land partially located outside the Development Zone (ODZ).

In a statement the Council said that although part of the sites of these two permits were outside the development scheme, they were processed and decided by the Planning Authority as if they were all within a development area. He said this could have misled the public and affected the way they were decided.

The Mayor of Qala, Paul Buttigieg, said that the Council had already spent thousands of euros to appeal this development, which is expected to consist of a total of 179 apartments. The two applications objected to by the Council are part of six applications related to the same development.

The association Din L-Art Ħelwa is also objecting to this development.
