Man charged with attacking his girlfriend when she tried to stop him taking drugs

A man from Żurrieq was charged with having attacked his girlfriend with a knife last month and having caused her light injuries.

Police Inspector Trevor Micallef said the woman had alleged she was attacked when she tried to stop him from taking drugs in her presence.

He was also charged with being in possession of heroin and of having breached a Court Order.

The man entered a plea of not guilty but was detained in prison under arrest. The Court recommended he be given treatment for his drug problem.
