The registration for the nomination of candidates who will be contesting the post of Labor Party leader opens today. This comes in the wake of an announcement made just over a week ago by the Prime Minister to the effect that be writing to the President of the Labor Party, to begin procedures for the appointment of a new leader, as a result of his impending resignation.
Nominations will close on on Wednesday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne, and MP Robert Abela have already publicly announced their interest in contesting.
MEP Miriam Dalli announced that she will not be contesting, while Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Ian Borg, said he will be supporting Chris Fearne for this post.
If there is more than one nomination, the election for the new leader will take place on 11 January next year.
