Remanded in custody after assaulting Police officers

33-year-old John Owusu, a Ghanaian national, has been arraigned in the Gozo Court by Inspector Josef Gauci, and has been charged with assaulting and violently resisting the Police. The incident occurred two days ago in an apartment in Tower Street, Xlendi.

Arraigned before Magistrate Brigitte Sultana, Owusu pleaded not guilty to the charges, which included breaching of conditions imposed by the same Court when he had been arrigned on other charges on 4 June.

John Owusu was not granted bail, and is being detained at Corradino Correctional Facility. He was assisted by Legal Aid lawyer Jean Paul Grech.
