A 48-year-old man, a resident of Żebbuġ Gozo, has been detained under preventive arrest at Corradino Correctional Facility after being arraigned in the Gozo Court and charged with possession of drugs and breaching of Court-imposed conditions.
The Police said in a statement the man had been arrested yesterday morning by Anti-drug Squad officers following days of observation in connection with alleged drug trafficking. The man was arrested as soon as he stepped off the ferry at Imġarr Harbour.
The Police searched the man’s vehicle and found a considerable amount of a substance suspected as being cocaine and cannabis. More drugs were recovered during a later search of his residence.
Arraigned before Magistrate Monica Vella, the man was charged with possession of cocaine and cannabis in circumstances indicating it was not for his exclusive use, as well as for breaching bail conditions.
The man pleaded not guilty as charged and was denied bail.
