Repubblika says that Daphne Caruana Galizia was murdered by a Malfia-like octupus that dominated the country

The President of the group Repubblika, Dr Robert Aquilina, said that Daphne Caruana Galizia was murdered by a Mafia-like octopus that dominated the country.

He was addressing a media conference outside Parliament on the fourth anniversary of her death. Dr Aquilina said that Caruana Galizia was murdered because she had trodden on the corns on those who had made the country as being their own and had not hesitated to her homicide to satisfy their egoistic and corrupt interests.

He explained that the Commissioner for Police and the Advocate General have not as yet Court arraigned those to respond for the corruption that Caruana Galizia had written about.

Dr Aquilina further maintained that after two-and-a-half months the Prime Minister Robert Abela has done nothing since receiving the report of the Public Inquiry regarding her death.

The conference was also addressed by Orsetta Spinola from the Free Organisation who said Malta needs strong legislation to assure the detection of criminality by those who are in power.

She said such legislation should enable the analysis of their assets and added that in Italy this legislation exists in collaboration with the EU Commission to eliminate organised criminality.

The conference also announced that on Saturday evening a vigil is to be mounted outside the Court building in Valletta and will be addressed by various personalities including the Italian Senator Sandro Ruotolo and journalist Mattia Motta who want free and protected journalism.
