Residents in Ohio urged to take vaccine with the chance of winning $1 million

The state of Ohio in the US, is urging its residents to take the vaccine against Covid-19 by launching a lottery. Five people have the chance to win $1m in cash.

The Governor of Ohio, Mike DeWine said that only adult residents who take the vaccine are eligible for the lottery. The first winner will be announced on 26 May, while the other winners will be announced once weekly.

To date, the US has vaccinated 58.7% of the adult population against the virus.

President Joe Biden has planned that by 4 July,  70% of adults will have been vaccinated.
