Rest of establishments and childcare centres to reopen

Public Health Superintendent, Charmaine Gauci, said that the Covid-19 situation was controlled in Malta during which although many persons were home-bound, they were however in quarantine. She mentioned that the RT was lowered and this was the result of work and sacrifices by everyone.

Prof Gauci said that the measures were relaxed following a risk evaluation and were always accompanied by mitigation measures.

Therefore, she announced that we are in a position that certain establishments which had still not opened, will now open from next Friday.

Childcare centres will also open with a difference, and if the situation remains good, other educational centres will be opened in the future. Prof. Gauci said that some events will also be permitted, however mass events are not permitted, similar to those of last summer because the social distancing principle has to be observed.
