The Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation has started a restoration project of the garden at the Mall in Floriana, at an investment of €4.2 million which will include 7,500 square metres of new paving.
The Minister for Infrastructure and Capital Projects, Ian Borg said that the project, which began two weeks ago, will be ready within one year and when it is ready, both Floriana residents as well as the public in general will be able to enjoy the garden which will be equipped with new furniture, new lighting and even a new fountain.
Gino Cauchi, the CEO of the GHRC corporation said that as part of the project, all the monuments of national importance will be restored, and the project which will continue up to the Independence monument, will complement the other work in the area known as Biskuttin and even Triton square.
The Chairman of the GHRC Anthony Agius Decelis explained that the Corporation is also undertaking other restoration and regeneration projects including one in Senglea. He said that these are being done for the public as well as for tourists to enjoy and appealed for these places in which millions of Euro are being invested to be well-maintained and for people not to vandalise them.
