Restrictions envisaged during February, but not lockdown or curfew – PM

Prime Minister Robert Abela said that in February the Government will  be introducing some restrictions against Covid-19, particularly to be prepared for the Carnival weekend.

When asked by journalists if bars and clubs will be permitted to open next Monday, the Prime Minister stated that one of the measures is the extension of the legal notice that enforces bars and clubs to remain closed during February.

The Prime Minister clarified that the Government will not close schools or impose lockdowns or curfews. While emphasizing the current trouble in The Netherlands due to these restrictions, he said that a balance is needed between public health, livelihood and mental health.
