Fisherman lands 650kg fish

Amateur Australian fisherman Rob Crane had never dreamt of one day landing a massive 650 kilogram fish. Fishing in Queensland’s Hervey Bay he spent two hours trying to land the monster after it took his baited hook.

Crane said “it is up for grabs; if there are people out there who want to take some for research, I’m up for that. It’s a poisonous fish to eat at this size; they are full of mercury so you don’t want to feed it to anyone”.

The fish attracted a lot of attention when it was laid out and many posed with it for pictures when it was weighed.
