Youth beat his mother because no food was prepared

A 23-year-old youth has been denied bail after being arrested on allegations that he physically beat his mother because she had not prepared food.

The youth has been charged with lightly injuring his mother and causing her to suffer a trauma of domestic physical abuse.

Defence lawyer Martha Mifsud requested bail on the basis that the argument between son and mother was a banal one even though it then escalated. The youth has run foul of the Law on other occasions for minimal offences but said he did not wish to lose his employment.

Lawyer Stefanie Caruana acting as ‘parte civile’ said the abuse has been ongoing for a ten-year period. This resulted in the mother ending up in a poor condition and on one occasion twice had to go to a polyclinic on the same day.
