School introduced unconventional method so that students do not copy during exams
A school in India developed a system to avoid that students copy from colleagues during exams. However, students were relieved because the method failed immediately and the school had to make an apology when photographs were published of students dressed with carton boxes on their heads with only one hole.
The photo was taken during a chemistry exam in Bhagat Pre-University College in Haveri. Despite being close to each other, students could not see what their adjacent colleagues were writing. However, the idea was not well received and the school’s administration was forced to make an apology for introducing the method.
The school said that the method was only an experiment and that students were free to wear the box or not. In fact, as the photo shows, some of the students did not wear the box. The school authorities added that the experiment was carried out in agreement with students who also took the boxes with them at home. Some students took the boxes off immediately, others were requested to remove them after an hour into the exam.
The Education Board deputy director described the method as inhuman and that he ordered the removal of the experiment once he was informed about it.
