Triq l-Imġarr in Nadur to be rebuilt anew

Work will commence on Monday for the rebuilding of Triq l-Imġarr in Nadur. This is a busy arterial road that links Nadur to the port at Mġarr in Gozo.

This was announced by Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana in a statement that the project includes the road being rebuilt anew, the provision of greater security and safety to avoid accidents as well as the provision of underlying service facilities.

Architect Godwin Sultana who is responsible for the project explained the techniques of the work that has to be carried out. The first step will be to consolidate the road’s foundations and supporting walls. After that gutters for necessary services will be placed and the road will be given a new surfacing.

Nadur’s Mayor, Edward Said, welcomed the news that this arterial road is to be given the attention it deserves. He said the Nadur Council has long been forwarding complaints about the state of this road and the dangers it presents.

Minister Caruana said the works are being given importance as the road is in a bad state and has been left in a state of neglect for many years.

She emphasised the Gozo Ministry wants to make differences in Gozo’s roads and there are already prepared plans for 2019 and these have already been discussed with Infrastructure Malta for the works that will be announced in the near future.
