Security camera captures man stealing from shop

A 42-year old man from Georgia was sent to one and a half years in prison after he was found guilty of robbing a Naxxar shop.

It emerged in Court that the shop’s workers had found the establishment’s door forced open and the cash register stolen. They immediately informed the owner about the theft, during which €200 in cash and €250 mobile cards were stolen. The thief also caused €500 in damages.

Security cameras footage showed the hooded thief who also covered himself with a bed sheet, which fell when he about to leave the place.

The workers identified the man as he had frequently visited the shop to buy products.

The man denied the charges, however Magistrate Joe Mifsud said that the testimony and video footage leave no doubt about the man’s identity.

While he was handed an 18-month imprisonment, the Court ordered the man to pay €1,046 to the owner.
