Suspended prison sentence for fatal traffic incident – the victim was partly to blame

The Court has avoided a prison sentence for 26-year-old Jonathan Hili who ran over a 40-year-old man who was killed in a fatal traffic incident that happened four years ago in Triq il-Marfa l-Għadira.

The incident happened when the man was crossing the road together with his ten-year-old daughter. The victim died on the spot.

Hili was given a one year prison sentence suspended for a period of three years and had his driving licence suspended for six months after the Court considered that the victim was partly responsible for the cause of the accident.

Hili was ordered to pay almost €3,000 in Court expenses.
