Two year prison sentence for three thefts in a month

A 33-year-old man who is unemployed and homeless has been given a two year prison sentence after he admitted to three thefts in a month when he stole two laptops and a handbag.

Magistrate Yana Micallef Stafrace said the man has a criminal record that is as voluminous as The Bible and she urged him to change the course of his life because he is on a course of self-destruction.

The Court recommended the Director of Prisons to make assistance available to the accused to enable him to follow a drugs rehabilitation programme and to provide productive employment for him while in prison.
