Prison sentence and suspended sentence for attempted theft from Marsascala residence

A 25-year-old man from Ħamrun was sentenced to a prison sentence of 11 months while another 18-year-old youth from Qormi was given a similar 11 month prison sentence but suspended for a period of four years after both were found guilty that last September they attempted a robbery from a Marsascala residence.

Prosecution said the robbery did not succeed because of accidental and independent reasons that thwarted their plans. Had the robbery succeeded they would have stolen €2,300 to the detriment of the intended victim, Daniel Mallia.

They were also found guilty of having caused damages to furniture and Mallia’s belongings. Martin Galea was sentenced to prison while Jeremy Borg was given a suspended sentence.
