Stole jewels from an elderly woman’s residence and was shortly after arrested

The theft of jewels from a 79-year-old woman from her residence in Msida ended in a positive manner after the thief was arrested a few hours later.

A 45-year-old woman was arrested yesterday evening shortly after carrying out the alleged theft. The jewels were found in her possession.

Police said the woman knocked on the door of the elderly woman’s residence wearing a face mask as worn by health workers and said she had been sent by a particular company to help the vulnerable.

The Police appealed to the public, particularly to the elderly, not to open their door to anybody unless they were expecting a person they knew to visit them. If they have suspicions they should immediately contact the Police.
