The service.gov agency’s new headquarters in Mosta will be inaugurated in the coming days. During a visit to the new premises, the Principal Permanent Secretary, Mario Cutajar, said that in five years this agency had completely changed the concept of how the Public Service delivers its services.
Mr Cutajar mentioned that from five regional hubs in their infancy, today service.gov has 24 hubs each delivering 1,500 services under one roof. He said that today servizz.gov received around 60,000 calls a month on its freephone number 153. Five years ago the service received two thousand calls a month. He explained that this, in addition to government services all grouped together in one website along with the relevant forms, as well as the mobile app maltapps, was helping to make government services accessible from anywhere 24 hours a day.
Mr Cutajar also mentioned the three specialized service.gov centres, each of which focused on a particular area, namely education, tax and the family. The head of the civil service said that the successes of service.gov would continue to increase in the future for the Public Service to deliver a service of excellence to its customers.
