Simon Busuttil given PPE appointment – will resign from Parliament

Simon Busuttil will be resigning his seat in Parliament after being given an appointment in the Popular Party of Europe (PPE) with effect from 1st March onward.

In a statement the Nationalist Party hailed its former Party Leader in being appointed the PPE’s new General Secretary in the EU Parliament.

PN Leader Adrian Delia said the appointment shows not only the great esteem that Simon Busuttil holds but also shows the measure of respect with which the PN is held in Europe.

On his part Dr Busuttil said that as a result of his appointment he will be enabled to ensure that Malta regains the respect lost during recent years while also assuring that Europe will back the people of Malta to defend the values of Justice and the Rule of Law.

It is said that Dr Busuttil will resign from being an MP in the coming weeks to take up his new appointment.
