Six months’ imprisonment after fleeing and returning to Malta without a passport

Samir Salim, a 23-year-old Tunisian, was accused of having entered Malta without a passport, after he stowed away in a merchant ship.

Salim originally entered Malta as an illegal immigrant but tried to flee by boarding a merchant vessel at Marsa and stowing away but was found by the crew and returned to land.

He admitted to the charges and Magistrate Camilleri sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment.
