The teaching of both the Maltese and English languages has been part of a project financed by the European Union and run by Sliema Local Council. The project was aimed at teaching foreigners living in Malta the island’s two official languages – Maltese and English.
With the help of a 30,000 euro fund, Sliema Local Council implemented this project among both adult and young foreign residents. The Local Council worked with St Clara College and with the National Literacy Agency.
During the awarding of certificates ceremony, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo had words of praise for this project, and also expressed his appreciation for the manner in which Local Councils are exploiting European funds to carry out community projects, and in this case a project which helps towards integration.
