Spacecraft crashes on the moon

The first privately-funded mission to the moon has failed after the main engine developed a fault and the spacecraft crashed on the moon. The Israeli spacecraft made an attempt to land but developed technical faults as it was preparing to land.

The aim of the mission was to take photos and carry out experimetns. Israel was hoping to be the fourth country to land a spacecraft on the moon. To date, only the Governments of the Soviet Union, the US and China have successfuly landed on the moon.
