Sporting celebration to mark Nigel’s return to football after transplant

The young Nigel Spiteri is to return to the pitch to play football with the Naxxar Lions Nursery. Nigel will continue with his hobby just two months after a heart transplant, after he had been in London for ten months waiting for a heart to become available so that he could undergo the intervention.

Nigel’s return to the team is being welcomed with a sporting celebration by his friends at the Naxxar Lions Youth Nursery, who will be organising an activity during which they will be raising funds for Puttinu. A football tourney and games for children at the nursery in the Higher Secondary football ground at Naxxar will be held between 9.30 a.m. and 11.00 a.m.

Nigel had endeared himelf to the Maltese public and had been an inspiration to many through his positive attitude and the courage he had shown when he had taken part in the L-Istrina 2017.
