Suspended sentence, fine for tourist who assaulted three Police officers

Ricardo Javier Ordonez has been handed down a suspended sentence and fined 1,300 euro after being arraigned in court and charged with assaulting a Police sergeant and two constables in Paceville.

The Swiss national, who was in Malta on holiday, was arraigned today before Magistrate Charmaine Galea and charged with having assaulted the Police officers and failed to obey Police orders, besides disturbing the peace, being drunk in a public place and causing damage to private property.

Ordonez, who was assisted by lawyer Simon Micallef Stafrace, pleaded guilty. The Court handed down an six-month sentence suspended for two years and fined accused 1,300 euro, which he will be paying off at the rate of 300 euro per month.
