Sydney calls for military presence to enforce lockdown

In Australia hundreds of soldiers will help to enforce the lockdown that has been extended in Sydney.

Nosta criticized the Australian authorities’ decision because they consider military intervention excessive and unnecessary. The lockdown is expected to end on August 28. People cannot leave their home except to exercise, shop, provide care and for other essential reasons.

The Delta variant that erupted in June infected more than 3,000 people and was the cause of nine deaths. Despite the five-week lockdown, infections in Australia’s largest city have continued to rise. 170 new cases have been reported in recent hours.
