Taliban to re-introduce cutting off of thieves’ hands

In Afghanistan, the Taliban have decided to re-introduce the cutting of hands  of persons found guilty of theft and the killing of murderers.

They have still to decide whether the sentences are carried out in public, as the Taliban did when they governed Afghanistan in the past.

The re-introduction of crime sentences was confirmed by Nooruddin Turabi, one of the Taliban’s founders, who is responsible for the Islamic law implementation. He defended the fact that previously thieves or murderers were publicly sentenced in front of the public.

Turabi insisted that the cutting off of hands of thieves is necessary for the country’s security.

In the past, the family of the executed person, was given the right to shoot the killer in the head. In the case of thieves, if a crime is committed in streets, the person’s foot is also cut off.
