Teenager creates club for Rolls Royce and Bentley lovers, even though he doesn’t have his licence yet

Bentley and Rolls Royce are distinctive cars, renowned for their luxury.

Kristian Cini is only 17, and while he is not yet old enough to drive, he is a huge fan of these classic cars.  He has his mind set on creating the Rolls Royce and Bentley Club Malta for those who love these cars.

Kristian’s interest in these types of cars started around four years ago, when his father bought a Rolls Royce and they restored it together. “We always go out for a drive with it on Sunday and I sometimes spot this model of car here and there. So I thought why don’t we form a club and bring everyone together?  So I put a post up on Facebook.”

On Sunday a number of Rolls Royce and Bentley car owners drove their vehicles towards the Domus Rumana in Rabat for their first get together.

“They are cars of a certain class and style. But they can also be sporty and go fast, so they have every element one would like in a car.”

The story of the Bentley and Rolls Royce goes back to the beginning of the 20th century.  Bentley Motors was set up by Walter Owen Bentley, and the car named after him used to drive through the streets of London around 100 years ago.

A few years before this, Henry Royce and Charles Rolls joined forces and together started the company Rolls Royce. In 1907, the Silver Ghost became a very successful model and was declared the best car in the world.

Kristian’s dream is that when he gets his licence he too will be able to own and drive one of these cars.

“I hope that one day I can drive my Dad’s car – I will be his chauffeur – but eventually sure I want to own one of these cars myself.”
