No one was injured in a protest held by immigrants at a detention centre at the Armed Forces barracks in Hal Far. Immigrants, who began waving their clothes out of windows and making noises with their hands, appealed for freedom.
The soldiers, who were equipped with riot gear, in addition to the District and Rapid Intervention Unit Police, kept the situation at the detention centre under control. Law enforcement officers wore protective clothing, including face masks and gloves, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Television Malta is informed that these immigrants, who arrived in Malta this year, are not infected with Coronavirus but are in detention as per procedures of the Maltese authorities.
