The cup of coffee which cancelled a flight

A flight from Frankfurt to Mexico had to be cancelled when it was half way towards its destination after a pilot dropped a cup of coffee in the cockpit.

Around 337 passengers ended up stranded when the plane they were travelling on had to make an emergency landing because the coffee spilled by the pilot caused damage to the plane’s electronic system.

After the incident, the company issued new procedures that hot drinks such as coffee and tea need to be served in cups which have a lid, in order to avoid similar accidents.

The incident happened in February and the investigation into the case was concluded today.
