“The fast ferry is another Labour promise which has not been implemented” – PN; Gozo Ministry reacts

The Nationalist Party said that the annulment of the process to choose an operator of a fast ferry between Malta and Gozo is an example of the incompetence with which the Gozo Channel has managed the process, with disrespect towards the public and Gozitans.

The Opposition said it was expecting that the selection process for this electoral promise made by the Labour Party would be more serious, using more precise criteria.

Reacting to this, the Gozo Ministry said the Government is committed to guaranteeing accessibility between Gozo and Malta. This commitment was clearly proven by adding a fourth vessel to the Gozo Channel fleet as well as advanced plans for a permanent link between the two islands, the call for a helicopter service as well as for a fast ferry. The Ministry said the Opposition fully knows the matter of the fast ferry is currently undergoing Court procedures and until these are completed the process for a fast ferry cannot continue.
