WATCH: PM speaks about IVF, immigration and the FIAU

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that the amendments to the IVF Act are not anti-Constitutional.  He was replying to journalists’ questions about the latest developments in connection with this issue.  The PM said that the Government has consulted with the AG about this case and has now decided to proceed to the final vote tomorrow in Parliament.

Speaking about immigration, Dr Muscat said that this issue should not only be considered from one dimension.  He said that there is a difference between those who are genuinely seeking asylum and those illegal immigrants who are economic migrants. The PM also mentioned how immigration from the Central Mediterranean went down by 78% last year, thanks to the intervention of the EU.

Asked about the comments of the European Commissioner regarding the European Banking Authority and the action which it said it is taking against the FIAU and Pilatus Bank. the PM said that the EBA was commenting about the past actions of the FIAU and not the present.
