Theresa May expected to announce date of resignation within the next few hours

British Prime Minister Theresa May is expected to announce the date of her resignation from Downing Street within the next few hours.

Sources close to the BBC said that they expect PM May to provide a schedule in the process to choose her successor, with 10 June probably being the day in which the official campaign to find a new leader will begin.

Theresa May was under pressure to resign following conflict with her own MPs about her latest plans for Brexit.

Since January the British Parliament has voted three times against May’s Brexit deal with the EU.  Her attempts to reach a formal compromise with the Labour Opposition also failed.
