Thousands of demonstrators protest in Moroccan capital

Thousands of people have taken to the streets to protest in the Moroccan capital of Rabat to demand the release of 42 activists capital who had protested against corruption and unemployment.  The demonstration on Sunday was organised by political and civil rights groups as well as relatives of the activists who had been arrested.

The demonstration began weeks after the Court confirmed the prison sentence of activists who held protests in 2016 and 2017. The Moroccan authorities accused them of threatening the security of the country.
